The Lingcod are Biting and Salmon Looks Promising

5 clients were on Ghost today with Captain Aaron Orsini. It was a really fantastic weather day. Little to no wind and very small swell. On the drive down to Point Reyes there was miles and miles of feeding humpback whales. When we stopped to watch the whales we could see the huge shoals of anchovies swirling around on the surface. It was quite a site. The fishing at Point Reyes was fantastic. Giant black rockfish and big lingcod bit very well. We had limits of lingcod after an hour of fishing so we headed to deeper waters to try and hunt some large reds. While we did not find a big volume of reds we did end the day with a great mixed bag of 9 different rockfish species! After fishing we pulled 8 crab pots for 50 good grade crabs and went home.

Salmon season re-opens this Saturday, May 18th. Conditions look very promising for a great bite. Lots of anchovies and life along the coast. If you want in on the action give us a call at (707)971-0847. Hope to see you on the water soon.
